Why Newbury works
The town centre gives a family crowd at the weekend, and the corporate side gives launches and staff events during the week. The racecourse adds a third kind of day out entirely.
Newbury BID exists to drive footfall into the town centre, which makes it one of the easier organisations in Berkshire to approach about a free appearance.
Where he goes
Places in Newbury that suit him
Northbrook Street
the main shopping street, level and busy on market days
Parkway
the modern covered centre, straightforward for access and power
Newbury Racecourse
race days and the conference business the course runs alongside them
Technology employers
Vodafone's UK base and the businesses around it run large staff events
What he actually does
He walks, he dances, and he holds a live conversation in whatever language someone speaks to him in, answering on the spot rather than from a script. He takes a penalty if you line one up. What he cannot do is grip, so he will not carry a tray or hand anything over, and we would rather say that now than on the day.
